The meeting was called to order by President Tom Ireland at 7:05. 64 members attended, 13 are new.
Minutes were read by Bill Dunlevy approved. Bill also gave Treasurer Report.
Old Business – Date on Outdoor Week was corrected to May 11-14th. Contact Craig Casner to sign up at ccasner@BLM.gov.
4th of July – Bill Dunlevy – 57 members signed up last meeting. We will use both campgrounds. Gold collections will be compared to discuss which camp will be best. Busby’s gives a 10% discount for panning on his claim. Both have websites with links on our website. GPAA will have a potluck Fri. night July 2nd. Potluck on the 4th for everyone ($12.00 each) we will take $400 worth of prizes for the Chicken picnic. Alaska mining and Diving donates half.
Raffle for a 3 inch dredge is available with a $650 minimum. No bids made at this time.
Crow Creek Mine – $1500 was paid to the mine. We will have a Memorial Day outing there. A sign-up sheet will be passed at next month’s meeting.
New Business – Bill Bear reported on a P.A. system for the group. Costs vary from $70-$200. Tom Ireland suggested a bull horn. There was a discussion on which to buy. It was moved and seconded to get the most versatile and reliable unit. (about $200). Unamaniously approved.
Bill Bear also suggested promotional items for the club. A discussion was held about the items and the logo to use. We will vote next meeting on the logo.
Alaska Treasure Seekers will hold a meeting April 20th at 7PM at the Chugiak Senior Center. Refreshments will be served.
House Bill 4 could shut down a lot of mining. Members were urged to contact their representatives and urge a no vote. The AMA supports dealing with each zone separately.
Bill Dunlevy sent a picture of a huge nugget found in Calif. by skin diving. Website of prospectingchannel.com is available to all. Bill will bring videos on DVD to the meeting.
