The meeting was called to order by President Tom Ireland at 7:00 after our monthly potluck.  61 attended and 14 were new members.

Minutes and Tres. Report were read and approved.

Old Business –Bill Dunlevy explained the background on the Carey Mills suit to have access across BLM land to access his claims.  Our Chapter donation of $500 and member donations will be given to him at the Chicken Outing.

Bill Dunlevy -  explained our participation in the Forty Mile Miner’s annual picnic on the 4th of July.  Sign up for food was available.  The Chapter will also have a potluck on July 2nd.

Memorial Day outing will be at Crow Creek Mine.  There will be a sign up at the next meeting.

New Business – Outdoor Week – We have been contacted to help again this year with the BLM and Anchorage School District 6th graders panning instruction.  It will be the week of May 10-13.  Sign up sheet was circulated.

Earl Bragg invited us to join the Alaska Trapper’s Convention next spring.  It will be held at the Palmer Fairgrounds June 1-3, 2012.  They have rented Raven Hall and the Purple path for vendors. The focus is education and outdoor safety.  Their web site is akfrontiertrappers.com.  Some discussion followed about this being a substitute for our Gold Show.  We will consider the offer and get back to Earl.

Announcements –Dick Freisinger brought photos from Nome and a copy of Carmacks Dawson claim.

Loren Merrifield reported on his visit to the gold show at Las Vegas.  He got some new equipment.

LaRae and Gene Groves told about their winter trip to the Southwest.
