February - 2013

February 20, 2013

The meeting was called to order by President Bill Dunlevy at 7:00 after our monthly potluck.  19 attended 1 was new.

Minutes and Tres. Report were read and approved.

Old Business – Memorial Day Outing.  Bill Dunlevy and Jim Troxell will contact Nate at the Crow Creek Mine. Outdoor Week – BLM has set the dates for May 14-17th.  Sign up sheet was circulated.

Ice Fishing Jamboree –Several members helped children metal detect for coins.  This year the weather cooperated and there was sun, some rain and enough snow.  The lake was stocked with king salmon (trout sized) and many were caught.  The new hatchery has really helped.

Chicken outing – July 3rd will be out potluck for the outing.  We will take prizes and see if Oxford, the Mint and Alaska Mining and Diving have donations we could transport for them.

New Business – Gold Show 2014 – Bill Dunlevy will talk to Nate about a Father’s Day weekend availability.

Non-Profit Eligibility – Bonnie Tisler questioned our eligibility.  GPAA says they can assist Chapters with the application.  Discussion followed.  Several members were knowledgeable and felt it was not worth the effort.

Announcements – Bonnie Tisler has been taking educational classes about the concerns over the Pebble mine.  One interesting fact from John Shively was that the power needs of the mine would probably equal those of all of Anchorage.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:20

Respectfully submitted by Bonnie Tisler, Sec. Tres.
