June Minutes

June 21, 2009

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Bill Dunlevy at 7:00.  46 members attended, 5 are new.

Minutes and Tres. Reports were read and approved.

Old Business – Crow Creek Outing was well attended.  Sunday was an especially good day for gold with metal detectors and demonstrations on high banking.

Gold Show – Oxford assaying has donated 2 oz. of larger gold nuggets to use in the salted bags.  They will be added to every 20th bag.  We are looking for a large gold nugget for the Sunday grand prize.  Fliers, vendor letters and donor forms were available for members to use.  Posting should be done in May and June. Bill requested each member solicit two prizes such as gift certificates.  The Alaska Mint will donate 30 coins for the detecting hunt, 40 $1.00 tokens and coin medals for the panning winners.  Whitte’s donated $500 in prizes .  They offered a $75 kit of prizes which were ordered.  The MXT 300 they donated is worth $450.

Conoco Phillips Family Day – This will occur July 16th in the afternoon.  They expect 500 children to pan within a 3 hour period.  We will bring 20 panning tubs.  We need 1 volunteer per tub.  Water will have to be carried to the tubs.  3000 vials for the event have been purchased.  This will be held on the Park Strip at the west end.  Volunteers need to come at 12:00 to haul water.

Chicken Outing – motion was made by John Pakan and 2nd by Bill Bear to fund each rig $100.  Motion passed.  The sign up sheet was passed.  Travel dates of June 27th and 28th and July 1 were most popular.  Bill Bear made a motion to spend $200 for prizes for Chicken.  Alaska Mining and Diving usually matches our purchases.  Bill Dunlevy will get the prizes.  Members were also asked to donate prizes.

New Business – Chris Crouch suggested we consider donations to the community of Eagle, Alaska.  The Gem and Mineral Society has already sent a load of supplies.  Needs now are for toys for kids, work tools and skilled builders.  The thought was that we could take items as far as Chicken.  John Pakan will contact Mike Busby to see if that is possible.

Roger King made a motion to adjourn.  Motion passed.

Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted by

Bonnie Tisler, Sec. Tres.
