March 2010 Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Tom Ireland at 7:20 PM.  61 members attended, 20 are new.

Minutes and Tres. Reports were read and approved.

Old Business – Election of officers – Slate of officers was read.  Call for nominations from the floor brought no additions.  Motion was made and seconded to elect the previous officers.  The vote for re-election was unanimous.  2010 officers are Tom Ireland - President, Bill Dunlevy – Vice-President, Bonnie Tisler – Secretary/Treasurer,  Roger King – Outings Chairman, Christine Crouch –Claims Chair, Charlotte Foley – equipment Chair.

4th of July – Bill Dunlevy – We received communication from the Chicken Gold Camp.  Their fees will remain the same except for the panning fees increased to $15.  The Chugach Gem and Mineral Society will not be joining us this summer.  John Pakan was at Chicken last week on a snowmachine adventure.  He met the manager of the Chicken Outpost.  Bill Bear made a motion to spend $100 per rig again this summer.  Motion passed.

Crow Creek Mine – It was moved and seconded that we fund member admissions again this summer.  Motion passed.  There is a possibility for a Memorial Day outing.

New Business – The Alaska Miners Assoc. is having a mining tour of South Africa August 8-17th.  Cost is $6,500.

Gold Cat Industries is offering a discount to our members.  Price list was passed.

Alaska Mining and Diving has a link from their web site to a gold forum.  Members are encouraged to participate.

Outdoor Week is May 19-21st. Craig Casner welcomes help with the demonstration and instruction.

K.C.Jones brought an antique dredge and a Keene Proline dredge for show and tell.

Bill Dunlevy reported the AMA small scale miners meeting covered reporting paperwork.  Claim holders need to disclose gold found.  No tax is due unless gold is sold. Federal, State and Forest Service personnel attended.
