The meeting was called to order by President Tom Ireland at 7:00 after our monthly potluck.  46 attended and 2 were new members.

Minutes and Tres. Report were read and approved.

Old Business –Baxter panning demonstration.  Bill Dunlevy thanked the 12 members who helped with this project last night.  200 children panned for gold.  The Felix bags were provided by a donor and the gold found was returned to him.

Carey Mills will be contacted by Bill Dunlevy.  The members have voted in favor of donating $500.00.  Individual members have contributed $250.00 also.  These funds will be forwarded to Mr. Mills.

The Chicken sign-up was available.

New Business – Elections -  There were no nominations from the floor Linda Henderson made a motion to retain the present officers.  Motion was passed.  Officers are Tom Ireland, President,  Bill Dunlevy Vice-President, Bonnie Tisler Secretary/Treasurer,  Christine Crouch Claims chairman, Charlotte Foley equipment manager.

Announcements – Oregon is now trying to pass a no dredge bill.  Presently they have a permit fee of $2,500 for out of state applicants

John Pakan just visited Chicken and looked for new ground to prospect.  He has the name of a claim owner who wants to sell.

Guest Speaker was Matthew Smith of Smith Energy.  The local representative of the company is Chance Mayberry of Palmer.  This company makes explosives which are ATF approved for use and transport.  Two chemicals combine to make an explosive charge to move soft dirt and gravel.  This is for personal use only and is environmentally friendly.  A unit was donated for our raffle.
