The meeting was called to order by President Bill Dunlevy at 7:00 after our monthly potluck.  42 attended 11 were new.

Minutes and Tres. Report were read and approved.  Vice Pres. Jim Troxell has been added as a signer on the checking account.

Old Business – Memorial Day outing.  Sunday will be the potluck.  Brian Webber reported the mine isn’t open to the public yet.  There was two feet of snow still on the trail and ice on the river.  Bill Dunlevy will call the mine to confirm our use for the outing.  Bonnie Tisler will notify members by e-mail if there is a cancellation.  Members talked about parking availability.  The Chapter will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and buns for the Sunday potluck.  17 have signed up.  Veterans plan to join us through the Wounded Warriors Program.

Outdoor Week – Bill Dunlevy said the weather has been fine.  Volunteer teachers have been helpful.  Craig Casner has been giving students an informational talk before the panning starts.

Chicken Outing – 15 have signed up for the 4th of July outing.  We will take $200 worth of prizes and Alaska Mining and Diving will be sending a like amount with us to donate to the 40 Mile Miner’s Assoc. drawing.

New Business – Secretary duties will be temporally passed to Karen Pakan until Bonnie Tisler can return.

Announcements – Steve Hershbach officially retires from AMD tomorrow.  There will be a going away barbecue in his honor.  We are all welcome.

The Outdoor Rec. Center on Elmendorf has pans and sluice boxes.  Our new member Susan Connell is also starting panning instructions on base.

May 4th at AMD we sold bags of sand and this was well received.  Steve Hersbach gave detecting classes throughout the day

Meeting was adjourned at 7:30.

After the meeting, new members introduced themselves and gave a little of their history and hope for finding gold, learning to mine and meeting Chapter members
