Bonnie received an email from the Alaska Miners Association announcing the May 2nd Anchorage Chamber of Commerce meeting.  The topic to be presented should interest all folks interested in the future of prospecting and mining in Alaska.  Reservations are required and the details are below -

Event Description:

Alaska’s mining industry has grown to become a billion-dollar business and has remained so for the past ten years. With environmental and economic issues still a major concern, what does the future hold for one of Alaska economic drivers? Ron Plantz president of the Council of Alaska Producers, along with representatives from Alaska's mining companies, will give an update from the state's mining industry and provide details on future projects being developed to sustain Alaska's mining industry. Confirmed Speakers: Ron Plantz, human resources and community affairs manager with Hecla Greens Creek Mine; Lorna Shaw, community and government relations manager of Fairbanks Gold Mining, Inc.; Mike Heatwole, vice president, public affairs with Pebble Partnership LLC; Lance Miller, vice president of resources with NANA Regional Corporation; and Wayne Hall, manager of community and governmental relations with Teck/ Red Dog Mine.
