The meeting was called to order by Pres. Bill Dunlevy at 7:00 after our monthly potluck.  25 attended and 3 were new.

Minutes and Tres. Reports were read and approved as read.

Old Business- Labor Day Outing was cancelled because only two members signed up.

New Business –Andre Macias has a new job at Cabela’s managing their mining area.  He will present a 1 hr. seminar on metal detecting on Nov. 1st at 1:00 P.M.  He asked for volunteers to help teach.  He gave members company gift certificates.  Plans are to improve his department.

Announcements - A mining claims auction will be held on Nov. 8 at Best Western in Wasilla.  This area is on Cache Creek.

New member Baerent Strandburg said a mining company is in the process of planning a large scale mining operation on Cache Creek.

Andre reminded us that we can participate with the Gem and Mineral Society at Fur Rondy in the Northway Mall.

Hatcher Pass claims on Willow Creek have been purchased by a member.  He has offered possible use by our Chapter members for an outing.

Bill Dunlevy and Jim Troxell will teach panning in Chugiak tomorrow.  Gold has been donated by the AMA.

Bill did little gold mining on his trip.  They did get to the creek he had mined.  Timber in the area had really grown and was to be logged again.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
